Press Release: Jacqueline Lawton and Jules Odendahl-James Speak about Theatre for Social Justice as part of ARTerveners Social Justice Art Conference
On March 7th, ARTerveners presents an all-day conference to talk more about how we can create and coordinate social justice art meaningfully and sustainably. The conference brings artists together to talk more about the techniques that work for community organizing, how we stay sane, how we create engaging artwork, how we communicate, how we juggle community devotion with family expectations.
At 2:15pm, Jacqueline E. Lawton and Jules Odendahl-James will address Theatre for Social Justice. They will speak about recent theatre projects that address the fight for racial equity and gender parity in the U.S. Their presentation will include information about Out of Silence: Abortion Stories from the 1 in 3 Campaign; Hands Up: 6 Playwrights, 6 Testaments, and the Ladies of Triangle Theatre, a women led theatre collective.
The Center for Documentary Studies in Durham has graciously offered to host the ARTerveners Conference. Click on the following for the list of speakers or the conference schedule or directions.
